About Glen Barham MBE  RSLI MASLI

Glen Barham is a Sign Language Interpreter registered with the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People who likes to write about himself in the third person!

As well as being a Registered Sign Language Interpreter, Glen spent over 30 years working in the public sector as a police officer before retiring in 2016. He has worked on deaf access projects including the creation of Police Link Officers for Deaf people, emergency and non-emergency SMS text services, initial contact and custody. It is important to note that this website, and the thoughts expressed, in no way represent Glen's previous employers. Because of this previous work, Glen does not currently undertake interpreting within the Criminal Justice System.

Glen has been working with the Deaf Community since first becoming interested in Sign Language in 1998 and he has a passion for improving Deaf access.

In 2006, his work was recognised when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II honoured him as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Glen continues his interpreting work to enhance his communication skills, improve Deaf access in his current role and promote equality of access, especially within the public sector.
